MSP432E flash unlocking

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Unlock is currently not supported for the MSP432E series. This is actually new information to us as the initial UM we received from TI when implementing Flashsupport did not have this information in it otherwise it would be already supported. We will put it on the ToDo but currently we can't give any estimate as our project books are quite full. You should be able to implement this sequence without the SDK using only the Scriptfunctions from the regular J-Link ...

Bootloader

Hello Ilkay, The logs you provided are not helping. Could you provide a J-Link logfile as described in the wiki? https://wiki.segger.com/Enable_J-Link_log_file For reference, could you test if debugging the elf in Ozone works? https://www.segger.com/products/developm…-link-debugger/ Create a ne ozone project with the project wizard and select your elf file when asked for the Program File. Does that work for you? Best regards, Nino

J-Link ATSAME54 can't halt CPU

Hi Dave, Thank you for providing additional details. Quoted There is no "project" at this time, I simply wanted to evaluate the part, so any of the testing done with J-link has been with an erased part (using AS7 and the ATMEL EDBG) OR with a simple blinking LED type test running. Ok, this is really odd then. Does debugging using EDBG with AS7 work? Or do you get similar issues? Quoted As to identifying the demo board, there should be a sticker on the bottom with product code/revision and serial...

Segger J-Link Plus and ARM DS-5 on Linux

Hello Laura, Quoted I'm currently working with a iMX7 based board. I tried Ozone, if I understood correctly with some scripting on the .jdebug file I should be able to work with both i.MX7 cores separately. Correct. You can either configure one Ozone project to switch between the cores or create two separate projects. Debugging multiple cores in parallel is currently not supported but we plan on implementing that function sometime this year. Keep in mind that on Linux Ozone is currently not ship...

JLink mini EDU - Cortex not found

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Sounds like a setup issue with your hardware. 1) On the J-Link EDU Mini you will see a little "1" engraved next to one of the connector pins. This is pin 1. Align the red flatcable site from the cable you are using with that pin. That is the correct way to attach it to J-Link. 2) The following Wiki describes common setup mistakes and how to debug them with our tools: https://wiki.segger.com/J-Link_cannot_connect_to_the_CPU Quoted I think Vref is simply a refere...

J-Link ATSAME54 can't halt CPU

Hello Dave, Thanks for providing additional information. That halt is not working in J-Link Commander is quite curious, especially after a connect is working. Do you have any application, bootloader etc. running on that MCU that might alter the debug port behaviour? For example resetting GPIO settings, limiting debug access or changing device security etc? As for the boards we have here we only have engineering samples from Atmel with ATSAME54P20A MCUs on it. Not sure if it makes a difference in...

image secure is disabled but flash still secured

Hello, You are using a relatively outdated version of J-Flash. Could you update it to the latest version and see if the behaviour improves for your case? Quoted It means the MCU is secured, right? Yes with 0xFF at that spot the flash security is enabled. J-Flash will change it because when selecting the target device at J-Flash project setup you selected the not (allow security) device (screenshot attached). If you select the (allow security) device you can activate the flash security and J-Flas...

Segger J-Link Plus and ARM DS-5 on Linux

Hello Laura, Thank you for your inquiry. DS-5 support for Linux has not been added in the meantime and currently there are no plans to do so. Alternatively you can use our free debug software Ozone which works multi-platform: https://www.segger.com/products/developm…-link-debugger/ Ozone fits perfectly in the J-Link ecosystem and can work with the compiler output of DS-5. So you can keep your project in DS-5 and compile there. For debugging you simply use Ozone. For future projects we recommend ...

[SOLVED] printf leads to hardfault even in 'default' application

Hello Markus, Great to hear that you are up and running again. Thank you for sharing your findings. It is possible that TCM RAM needs some extra init steps or consideration in the IDE when using printf. We do not have any "secret" extra knowledge about the SAME70 series that would not be described in the devices manual. As a tool provider we guarantee that internal RAM and Flash that we support will be taken care of by J-Link. Any extra memory areas that require user configuration will usually f...

[SOLVED] Copy Build Build Configuration

Hello, This question has been aswered via e-mail. So this thread will be closed now. Here is an excerpt from the answer: Quoted To use several different configurations you can do the following: - Go to Build -> Build Configurations... - There you see private and public configs - Use private configs to store all generic settings that the other build configs have in common, these can then be inherited by the public configs - Then create as many new public configs as you need with the + icon - Use ...

[SOLVED] Programming External Serial Flash W25Q40BL

Hello Henry, yes a SPI interface is also usable but of course less "flexible". When adding flash support you generally have the following two options. 1. You send us the target hardware and documentation and we implement the flashloader. In this case NREs will apply. 2. You use our open flashloader interface and implement it yourself: https://wiki.segger.com/Adding_Support_for_New_Devices Especially if you are at a time critical project stage we recommend option two. Which one would be of intere...

Cannot connect to PIC32MZ2048EFM100 via ICSP

Hello Patryk, Do you have an Microchip eval board to test your setup against? Generally we suggest first getting a running eval board setup and then design custom hardware based on that. For reference for our testing we used an Explorer 16 Development Board. First verify functionality with an eval board. Then see how the eval board has wired the ICSP connector and copy that design. That should do the trick. Please understand that we can't put more time in this case as there is no issue with J-Li...

[SOLVED] Programming External Serial Flash W25Q40BL

J-Link Plus does not find devices on JTAG chain (J-Trace does)

Hello Wolfgang, That behaviour matches the issue described in the wiki article: https://wiki.segger.com/Kinetis_Series_Devices Make sure that the Reset pins on *each* target device have a Diode positioned as described to make sure that the target devices don't reset each other if no application is running in them. Did you implement this on your hardware? Best regards, Nino

J-Link ATSAME54 can't halt CPU

Hello Dave, Thank you for your inquiry. Such an issue is not known to us. We just verified the functionality of the debug connection with a J-Link Plus, SAME54 XPlained Pro board, J-Link software version V6.22f and using the 9-pin debug connector. Everything was working as expected when using the J-Link Commander. Halting the target was no problem. For verification could you follow the instructions for connecting with J-Link Commander? https://wiki.segger.com/J-Link_cannot_co…-Link_Commander Aft...
