J-Link 8.00

I´m using J-Link 8.00. Since a FW update the device is not seen by J-Link configurator any longer nor does the devices LED show light any longer. What does happen during FW update ? Is there a possibility that the FW was totally erased but not reprogrammed?
Thanks for any help.

Hi glen19,

Should not be the case.
Could you please provide the serial number of the affected J-Link (at least via PM)?

Best regards
Alex

J-Link 8.00

I did send S/N by PM. The system (Windows 7, 64bit, German) does report a "J-Link 3 driver" but does not find any proper USB driver. My other POD (7.00, KS Version, thus does not work with MDK) shows "J Link driver). Also a doublecheck on a Windows XP system confirms, that not the system is source of the malfunction.

Hi,

I am wondering a bit that no LED activity can be seen while windows still detects a USB device (J-Link 3 driver).
Does the LED do not turn on at all or does it blink for a small amount of time?

Which version of the J-Link software do you use?

Best regards
Alex

J-Link 8.00

The error ocurred directly after an update initiated by 4.24b. Yesterday I installed 4.46c and as before under 4.24b there is no blinking of the LED whatsoever. The POD obviously does not enumarate and report back to Windows VID and PID. With the 7.00 device I get "USB\VID_1366&PID_0101&REV_0001". With the 8.00 device I get

"USB\UNKNOWN"

Hi Glen,

As I previously wrote: No, it should not be the case that the entire J-Link gets erased by an firmware update.
The bootloader of a J-Link is never erased by a firmware update, so it is always possible to perform a firmware update in case a previous one was not completed successfully
as long as the hardware unit is working properly.

If no LEDs go on at all, it seems that the unit itself is defective. Please get in touch with your local distributor regarding repair of the unit.

Best regards
